Since 2012, Fuad El-Hibri has served as the executive chairman for the publicly-held global biopharmaceutical company Emergent BioSolutions. Fuad El-Hibri also serves on the boards of multiple philanthropical organizations including the El-Hibri Foundation, which was named as a tribute to his father.

The El-Hibri Foundation was established to carry on the philanthropic legacy of its namesake. A devout Muslim, Ibrahim El-Hibri advocated for tolerance among religions and believed in helping those less fortunate. The El-Hibri Foundation continues to advance both of those objectives with its focus on building a more inclusive America. Through its annual Peace Awards, the El-Hibri Foundation recognizes leaders who share that goal.

The El-Hibri Foundation offers three distinct Peace Awards each year. The Foundation’s largest award is the El-Hibri Peace Education Prize, a $30,000 award gifted to an individual who has dedicated his or her life to fostering inclusion and social justice in the United States. Eligible applicants must have demonstrated influence through the use of approaches that facilitated sustainable change, innovation through revolutionary techniques that promote tolerance and reduce discrimination, and/or impact through significant undertakings that demonstrate inclusiveness and educate diverse audiences.
In 2016, the Foundation created two additional Peace Awards. The Fearless Ally Award of $5,000 is given to notable allies of the American Muslim community who demonstrate the courage of their convictions in challenging Islamophobia, heightening awareness of concerns affecting the community, and promoting inclusiveness and collaboration with American Muslim communities. The Community Builder Award, also $5,000, recognizes American Muslim leaders who have successfully worked to promote inclusion and collaboration within American Muslim communities.
The El-Hibri Foundation holds an annual Peace Awards Ceremony in the fall to announce the Peace Award winners. The window to apply for the El-Hibri Foundation’s 2017 Peace Awards closed on July 23, 2017.
